No Poker in Collges

The largest poker tournament was held in Ireland last week and the winner was an Irish man Marty Smyth who picked up the 650,000 Euro cheque. He fought off fierce competition from 2 of the world’s best players Roland de Wolfe and Sorel mizzi. The game had been played over 3 days with roland de wolfe and sorel mizzi both finding time to share the lead in the tournament, but Irish man Marty smyth was confident enough to sit back and wait for his chance. Texas hold’em a game which was brought into Ireland many years ago from America. Last year in DKIT college in Ireland a member of the student society decided to create a poker club but this was not allowed as the college did not want to promote gambling. In my opinion this is stupid. Poker is a game all about probability, good thinking, right judgment and making calls at the right time and all with a little bit of luck, but doesn’t every sport have the same things. In football you have to rely on the other 10 members of your team to be successful. The internet has also cause a huge explosion in regards to poker. Online poker sirs such as pokerroom.com and fulltitltpoker.com have help the poker society grow by allowing people to get chips to play for free, or to play with real money Although years ago a lot of poker was played with money against other money. Nowadays you can buy in for a tournament for 20 Euro and get a certain amount of chips. This means that all the players have the same amount of chips, and a winner is declared when one player receives all the chips Students should be allowed to form a poker club as it is an excellent way to use your brain. Better than spending 20euro in a bar on alcohol… losing your brain!
